Higuchimon
The whole of Juudai vs. Yubel is really just them arguing about their wedding
Yubel: Really? You want to invite all your friends?
Juudai: Oh, that's rich. You were going to invite all twelve dimensions but my friends aren't welcome? In that case, let's just have it be the two of us.
Yubel: Okay, fin- Wait, are you seriously going to spend an entire speech talking about our past? It's just the two of us. I already know the story.
Juudai: Yeah, alright, I'm done. By the power vested in Super Fusion with Shou as our witness yadda yadda okay we're married. Honeymoon?
Yubel: About time.
Yes. Yes. Yes.

*punches the air and does a little dance* Welcome aboard the Fusion Dance Train. We hope that you have a great time!

One of us, one of us ;)

And in that moment, Juudai not only remembers his promise, but remembers what it feels like to *love Yubel*.

Or so my headcanon says, anyway.

heleentje:

I know it seems OOC for the characters to behave in such a way, but if you just keep reading, it’ll all make sense!

I’ve been hearing this argument far too often lately, usually from fanfic authors who never quite seem able to explain why the OOC behavior in question wasn’t OOC after all….

Preach it!

yugiohfanfictionconfessions:

I love reading about Ryo Marufuji and there’s lot of good fics about him but no matter how interesting the premise is or how well it would be written if the author makes it seem like it’s canon that he’s never able to walk and has to use the wheelchair for rest of his life or calls him cripple I immediately loose interest. (If there’s extra reason for it I’m cool with it.)

I feel your pain, OP.  The canon even said that he’d be fine (if he took care of himself).  When I wrote Ryou (which I do quite a bit) I do my level best to avoid that whenever I’m writing him post s-3.  Good luck finding more fics that don’t do that!

Qu Presents: A Quick Dissection on Why Juudai and Haou are Not (Or Didn’t End Up As) Different People

dumb-and-dumblr:

Since I was on this subject with someone else anyway just a few moments ago and was taking some screencaps, I figured I’d organize my thoughts about it here for good measure, and for public consumption or whatever. So off we go, below the cut!

GX Rant #4

Keeping track of cards in a duel is hard, yes. Some people have a knack for it and some don’t. (I require lots of notes, myself, and I still have rewritten duels a few times with those notes. Remembering spell speeds and what can be activated when and how chains work…no wonder they need a school for this stuff!).

Ahem. As I was saying. Yes, it’s hard. But if you just “don’t want to keep track of the cards” and your plot actually involves Juudai not being a duelist anymore, there are ways to do it that don’t involve the Neo-Spacians deciding that Yubel is “too dark” and leaving the deck, and the Elemental Heroes thinking Juudai should’ve killed her and refusing to work with Juudai anymore. Like, I dunno, maybe Juudai just…doesn’t duel or something? Instead of everyone being violently OOC?

Granted, the excuse for “not dueling anymore” is ultimately because the author wants to write a crossover with a different fandom and this means Juudai has to quit DA and go to the fandom’s school instead. So therefore, Juudai just can’t have a deck anymore? All of his cards have to revolt violently and for stupid reasons that make no in character sense and the author stillclaims that they thought about this and thought it was an in character move?

Oh, and then he gets given a Blue Eyes White Dragon by Pegasus (Which told him it wanted to be with him) and two God Cards and Black Magician Girl, who only kissed Shou because she felt sorry for him.

And for some reason, Juudai also doesn’t think Camula was a real vampire.

I don’t get it either. I’m going to go write something that makes sense.

Not rant #1

Not quite a rant, just some thoughts.

Yubel wasn’t turned into a card spirit when she was changed into a dragon. Duel Monsters isn’t even mentioned during that flashback. She’s specifically said to be turned into a dragon. And given how some Duel Monsters of the modern era look exactly like humans, do we even know if she actually was human to begin with? I mean, look at Field Command Larz, from the early Dark World arc. For those who aren’t good with names, he’s the guy who escaped the Dark World monsters, came back to Freed’s hideaway, and Juudai questioned him as he lay dying about any teenagers in the bad guy camp.

He has two kids, both of whom could (with the right modern clothes) walk down a modern day city street and not stick out as anything unusual. Are they human? Are they spirits? Are they monsters? We don’t know. The lines are too blurry and that’s a good thing.

Then there’s Taniya. Is she a card spirit? No card for her has ever been produced. She’s also fully sentient and of equal or greater intelligence to humans. Misawa saw absolutely nothing wrong with them being together based on her species, whatever it might be. So she can turn into a tiger. That doesn’t make her inherently non-human.

My general point is that arguing against any couple based off “omg, person X involved isn’t human!” is somewhat silly. Obviously the canon doesn’t care. Yubel, Taniya, any other spirit linked to a card, they’re not generally animals. There would be exceptions, such as those bull-like creatures that charged down Echo and Chronos. But a lot of the others? They’re just a different species, maybe, or maybe they’d count as humans with special powers. I mean, if you put Sea God’s Priestess/Maiden of the Aqua in modern Earth-type clothes, would you be able to tell her from a “normal” human? For that matter, Divine of 5Ds and Mr. Volcano look damn alike. Long lost relatives? What about that look-a-like of Johan’s? Was he human? Was he a card spirit? Again, we don’t know.

Oh, as for Yubel: she’s a “card spirit” now because that’s what Juudai needs to fight beside him in his battles now. That doesn’t mean that’s what she’ll be five hundred or five thousand years down the line. She’ll be whatever Juudai needs her to be in order to fight with him.

Juudai loves her because he chooses to love her, not because of what she checks under her “species” tab. The same goes for pairings like Taniya x Misawa or Shou x Black Magician Girl or any others like that.

yu-gi-oh-headcanon:

Ryo Marufuji didn’t tell anyone about the underground duels, at least not before he was long way recovering from his heart attack (except maybe to Fubuki). He didn’t want anyone to know he had sunk that low and/or didn’t want their pity. That’s why Shou couldn’t connect the heart failure to the illegal duels and thought the deck had caused them cause it gave him a bad feeling. In reality the heart failure really was caused by the electric torture Ryo went through and not by the slight tension he might have got from the deck sometimes.

But…he did tell them about the underground.  Episode 95.  “Hell Kaiser was born from an underground duel with this [damage amplication] system in place.”
And if it were just the shock collars, then why would Shou get a strong shock every time he touched the deck before he started actually asking it what it wanted and learning from it?
